GASPARILLA ISLAND ENGAGEMENT

This Gasparilla Island engagement took months to pull off just right. Buist called me from Texas because he was flying in to visit Maddie on Gasparilla Island. Although they live together in Texas, Maddie spends a couple of weeks every month here in Boca Grande with her grandparents. She knew that she wanted her wedding at the Gasparilla Inn next year, but technically, Buist still hadn’t proposed!

He flew in on Thursday and they had a great day together boating, going out for lunch and enjoying the island. Although Maddie felt this might be the weekend he proposed, she had NO idea the surprise he had planned. Under the guise of going out to dinner, they stopped on Banyan Street to take a photo. That’s when Buist got down on his knee to propose, and she immediately said, “YES!”

A couple of minutes later, her grandparents came around the corner to celebrate with them, then her whole family plus her best girlfriends from college showed up for the celebration. It was an impromptu party on Banyan Street until we whisked them away to the beach for some photos just before sunset. Afterwards, it was a party at Scarpa’s Coastal and a weekend celebration with everyone they love. See some of the highlights below.
