GASPARILLA INN SURPRISE PROPOSAL

August’s surprise proposal to Caroline at the Gasparilla Inn was a family affair! First Caroline’s mom called me to see if I was available to photograph her daughter’s proposal, then August’s mom called to let me know they were flying down for the surprise and we started talking about a plan. Finally I talked with August himself who had a very clear idea of where he wanted to propose. The Gasparilla Inn has always been one of their favorite places and he wanted the proposal to be at the Inn.

We decided that the greens outside the Pelican Room was the perfect place for this Gasparilla Inn surprise proposal because it’s usually quiet and private there. August and Caroline were coming down for a week to spend time with her parents and on this Sunday night, she was told they had a 7 pm dinner reservation. Her entire family was enjoying a cocktail at BZ’s when August’s brother suggested they take a walk around the Inn to show his girlfriend how beautiful it is. Little did Caroline know that August’s parents and her best friends from college had flown in and were waiting outside the Inn to surprise her as well.

Just as planned, they walked through the Pelican Room, out onto the patio (going right past me, just hanging out on the patio) and down to the green. His brother and girlfriend walked in one direction leaving August and Caroline alone so he could ask pop the question. She was in shock and cried happy tears as she said “YES!” and couldn’t believe when their family and friends joined us immediately afterwards to celebrate.

We then took time to go to the beach for some engagement pictures before their dinner at the Pink Elephant. Afterwards, they continued the celebration back at their home where more friends had flown in to celebrate. The whole week was a dream trip for the entire family.
