Beach Family Photo Sessions
Whether you live here or are traveling here on vacation, a beach family photo session is a great way to capture this special time.
If you have a favorite beach spot, let me know. Otherwise, here a few of my preferred locations.
Manasota Key
There are four easy access public beach areas on Manasota Key. From north to south they are: Manasota Beach, Blind Pass Beach/Middle Beach (it goes by both names), Englewood Beach and Stump Pass Beach State Park.
My preferred shooting locations are Manasota Beach or Blind Pass Beach because they have the easiest parking and offer a variety of photographic opportunities along with the beach.
I honestly try to avoid Englewood Beach because of the parking and it's the busiest beach. That means it has the most people and that makes it harder to photograph and make it look like you're all alone.
I like Stump Pass in general because it offers a variety of shooting locations. BUT, the parking lot is very small and limited and if we get there and there are not spots, then we have to spend time driving to one of the other beaches.

Venice Island
Venice is great and has several options. The four best locations for a session are the South Jetty if you like lots of big boulders, Venice Beach, the Fishing Pier, and Caspersen Beach. If you like the Fishing Pier, we can use it in the background and go under it for some photos, but easily change angles so that we don't see it at all.
Caspersen Beach is also nice because there are small boulders to stand and sit on.
Plus, families often schedule a dinner reservation at Sharky's or Fins afterwards.
(Please give us about 20-30 minutes after sunset to wrap up, walk to the parking lot and say goodbye).

Nokomis Beach
There are two main sections of Nokomis Beach that are good options for photographs. Both the main beach when you cross over the bridge or travel south and end up at the North Jetty.

Take a look at some of my favorite family photo sessions at the beach.
You have the option of either a sunrise or sunset session each weekday. This ensures that we take advantage of the best light possible. Sessions last about an hour. Unfortunately trying to photograph at the beach in the middle of the day is not flattering and you end up squinting.
Most beach session start with some photographs in the mangroves or by some trees. By photographing you a protected area before we walk onto the beach, it ensures I capture a few photos before your hair starts blowing in the wind. This also gives us time to warm up together and you get a bit more comfortable with me and how we're going to end up posing. This also gives you a variety of photographs later to choose from when you're decorating your home.
