LIDO BEACH FAMILY SESSION
When Shannon and David contacted me about family photos on Lido Key, they knew exactly what they wanted. They were enjoying a Florida vacation with their son, daughter-in-law, and their 20-month-old grandson, and they wanted to remember this time together.
Shannon’s biggest request was simple, she wanted everyone to look good, happy, and not overly posed. I completely understood. Those are some of my favorite family photos to create because the best images aren’t always the ones where everyone is perfectly still and looking at the camera. I love capturing moments when families are laughing, cuddling, walking together, playing in the sand and just having fun being together.
We met at their AirBnB, which gave us time to meet and talk before walking down to the beach. This helped make the evening easy and relaxed, especially with a busy toddler. Once we reached the beach, we began in the sea oats, which gave us a beautiful natural backdrop and a little variety before moving down to the water.
Parents and grandparents always worry that the children aren’t going to cooperate for an hour, and that’s ok. I don’t expect them to! I’ve learned that the trick is to get the posed smiling photo in the first couple of minutes, then let them go and just have fun. Then I focus on capturing cuddles, running, and playful moments.

What to Expect from a Lido Beach Family Session
If you’re planning a family vacation on Lido Key, a family photo session is a great way to capture more than just a few pictures of everyone looking at the camera. I want your photos to show what it’s like when your all together. That might mean taking a walk along the beach, cuddling with your little ones, laughing together and watching the sunset.
I keep family sessions relaxed and easygoing, and don’t expect everyone to sit still and smile for an hour, unless that’s what YOU want to do. I’ll get those classic family portraits, but then you’ll have time to enjoy the beach together, while I capture these little moments. This works well with young children (and husbands) because they don’t have to spend the whole session trying to behave perfectly.
Whether you’re visiting for a week, getting the whole family together, or simply want to capture this stage of your family’s life, I’ll make the experience fun and comfortable for everyone.
