VENICE TRAIN DEPOT PHOTOSHOOT

Photographing Sarasota’s self-proclaimed “premier boy band,” The Monsoons, was every bit as fun and offbeat as you’d imagine. Pat, Chris, and Steve brought their instruments, big personalities, and even bigger laughs to our session at the 1927 Historic Venice Train Depot. With its old-school charm and iconic Florida backdrop, the depot set the tone for a shoot that was less “posed portraits” and more “impromptu jam session meets comedy hour.”

These guys have a deep history together after years of performing, touring, and creating music in all kinds of venues. Their chemistry made this session feel completely effortless. They strummed a few songs between shots, teased each other like old friends do, and filled the space with the kind of laughter that made it easy to capture exactly who they are.

This shoot was for a feature in Venice City Lifestyle magazine, and it was clear from the start that these weren’t just polished musicians, they were seasoned performers with a true love for what they do. And they don’t take themselves too seriously, which made it even more fun to photograph them. Whether they were goofing around with their guitars or posing like they were on the cover of a rock album, the vibe was pure entertainment.

As a photographer, sessions like this are a treat, when the location, the personalities, and the creative energy all come together. The Monsoons brought it all, and then some.
